Explanation:
SaテBoatSkinｮ treats any (boat) surface, cleans it and gives the
surface a smooth as glass surface which ensures a clean surface which goes
faster (because the boat remains clean), is more efficient (less resistance due
to the smooth surface) and remains brighter (also due to the added Carnauba wax
and smooth surface which also protects against osmosis)
Question:
Environment friendly?
Answer: Yes, SaテBoatSkinｮ does not contain any for the environment
damaging substances like TBT, copper, heavy metals or other poisonous material.
Question: Is
SaテBoatSkinｮ an antifouling product?
Answer: No, not in when looking at it traditionally or from a legal
perspective. SaテBoatSkinｮ does not contain biocides and/or active
substances which destroy or fight organisms. SaテBoatSkinｮ
provides a.o. a smooth as glass surface, which prevents almost all dirt from
sticking.
Question: Why
would one use SaテBoatSkinｮ above the waterline?
Answer: SaテBoatSkinｮ can successful be used on all but gangway
area痴 to protect a boat against adverse weather conditions (a.o. for protection
against UV radiation and oxidation and to prevent from water and moisture
stains). The added Carnauba wax also gives a deep shine on the treated surfaces.
Question: Why
should you not use SaテBoatSkinｮ on gangways?
Answer: When SaテBoatSkinｮ becomes wet it becomes very smooth,
therefore, certainly in combination with water the risk of sliding becomes
unacceptable.
Question: What
about the solidity of SaテBoatSkinｮ to the surfaces?
Reply: One of the powerful characteristics of SaテBoatSkinｮ is the
cohesion of the product with the treated surfaces. When well applied (as thin as
possible - 2 to 3 layers) SaテBoatSkinｮ attaches extremely well to
any surface (also with very high speed - please also refer to SaテSpeedSkinｮ
description). Damages can easily be corrected
when required.
Question: Can
SaテBoatSkinｮ
or SaテSpeedSkinｮ be applied over any surface?
Answer: The end result (and longevity) of a treatment with SaテBoatSkinｮ
or SaテSpeedSkinｮ is (as always) directly related to the quality of
the hull it is applied to. The hull must be dry and clean.
Ablative paints like MICRON CSC must be removed completely. Also when underlying
layers consist of a high percentage of Teflon or Silicon (not a big issue with
existing boats because they wear out quickly) is it recommendable to take
precautions.
When the make-up of the base layer is unknown or you are in doubt, clean the
hull with mineral spirit=white spirit=turpentine or acetone (after which the
boat must be washed with water and soap to prevent the diluters to react with
SaテBoatSkinｮ
or SaテSpeedSkinｮ. After such a
treatment you can be sure that you have a perfect base for SaテBoatSkinｮ
or SaテSpeedSkinｮ.
Question: Will
SaテBoatSkinｮ
prevent any and all fouling on my boat?
Answer:
1. To work effectively SaテBoatSkinｮ
must be wet and have friction. Fouling (if any) below the
waterline will disappear like "snow in the sun" (according to a satisfied user)
after some sailing.
2. Fouling can occur dependent on a wide variety of circumstances. Remember: SaテBoatSkinｮ
does not contain biocides and does not kill algae etc. In all cases this fouling can be easily
removed with a sponge or soft brush (also in this regard
SaテBoatSkinｮ is unique).
Question: I see a
'brownish' type fouling on the waterline and/or an 'even' green slimery type
surface below the waterline.
Is this normal?
Answer: Yes and No - SaテBoatSkinｮ
does not kill algae etc. Depending on the environment,
the speed and friction applied to the surface and how the product was applied
the SaテBoatSkinｮ
layer can show various colors (including fully
transparent). In ALL cases the visible layer can be cleaned by wiping with a
soft brush and water. SaテBoatSkinｮ
provides a layer which, under sailing conditions, prevents the growth of
algae and the attachment of mussels etc., but again it is a layer that can/will color
depending on individual circumstances.
